| Staff Scientist - Fisheries Biologist |
NRM is accepting resumés/applications for fisheries biologists.
The successful candidate must posses a Master’s or higher degree in Fisheries, or directly related field, and a minimum of four years’ experience conducting field surveys for special status species, and a minimum of two years in a supervisory role. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree, four years’ experience conducting surveys, two years in a supervisory role, and at least one year as a project lead on a peer reviewed project. Experience in technical writing is required. Experience with NEPA/CEQA document preparation and familiarity with various permitting processes is highly desirable. Applicants lacking minimum qualifications may be considered for other positions. Applicants must be willing to work for extended periods away from home. Camping may be required on a project specific basis during summer months. Lodging will be provided during winter months. Pay will be commensurate with experience. |
| Timber Cruisers |
NRM is accepting resumés/applications for timber cruisers. Qualified applicants will have one or more seasons of field experience with fixed radius or variable radius plot installation. Experience with California species is preferred, and familiarity with handheld data recorders is advantageous. Applicants must be willing to work for extended periods away from home. Camping may be required on a project specific basis during summer months. Lodging will be provided during winter months. Pay will be commensurate with experience. |
Botanical Technicians |
NRM is accepting resumés for the position of botanical technician for a range of field studies for the 2010 field season. Successful candidates will possess botanical taxonomic skills, familiarity with the north coast California flora and experience with backcountry navigation. Vascular plant taxonomic skills and a familiarity with field survey techniques are indispensable skills for this position, but the position will include a training component.
Résumés should highlight relevant experience and pertinent completed course work and should identify professional references. Hiring is project-based and the term of employment varies by project. Pay is commensurate with education and experience. |
| Wildlife Technicians |
NRM is accepting resumés/applications for field technicians and crew leaders for a variety of wildlife surveys in northern California and southwestern Oregon. Qualified applicants will have one or more seasons of field experience, normal vision and hearing, and be in good physical condition. Ability to use topographic maps and compass is required. Pay will be dependent on experience.
Species surveyed may include northern spotted owl, red tree vole, marbled murrelet, raptors, mollusks, amphibians, etc. Work may be conducted in rugged backcountry conditions, with frequent rain. Work will often occur during night hours. Technicians may camp out for extended periods. |
